Below is a report issued by the Missouri Division of insurance in August 2015 revealing that Missouri is the third largest market for earthquake insurance in the country with only California and Washington being larger markets. The report includes an analysis of earthquake trends over a 15 year period and, county by county, risk of damage from an earthquake in Missouri as well as the difference in cost of insuring against such damage, in Missouri. The report shows that while the New Madrid area is the area with the largest risk of earthquake damage, that risk from New Madrid runs far north in the eastern portion of Missouri.
