Orchard Lakes Subdivision has around 250, 1960's era, ranch-style homes situated on nice lots with mature trees, has ample common ground including a nice lake, and is very conveniently located near 270 and Olive. Orchard Lakes is in unincorporated St Louis County but abuts Creve Coeur as well as all of the restaurants, shopping and other businesses along Olive Blvd.
Orchard Lakes' convenient location, not to mention it's half-mile of frontage on the west side of interstate 270, has caught the eye of commercial developers in the past. In 2013 developers Dan Devereaux and Peter Sheahan attempted to reach an agreement with all of the homeowners to do a buyout for commercial development but abandoned the idea in 2014 after meeting some resistance from some of the residents. Local news reports indicated that the developers offered homeowners 160% of the value of their homes, $20,000 for their share of the common ground as well as some possible reimbursement for recent repairs or improvements.
